Legal Clinic

In addition to legal representation and other services for income-eligible neighborhood residents, HCC offers a free legal clinic on Monday evenings.

Any New York City resident can visit HCC’s legal clinic, regardless of income.  Our volunteer lawyers provide brief legal advice, explain basic legal rights and often refer visitors to other legal resources/organizations/agencies.

The Clinic is for 20-minute consultations only. The attorneys cannot represent you.  While most visitors come for advice on housing-related matters, attorneys may field questions about other basic, legal matters, as well.  Visitors are asked to bring all relevant documents.

The Clinic starts at 7:00pm and ends no later than 9:00pm. To keep the Clinic manageable and within that time period, signup is limited to eight (8) clients on a first come, first served basis.  The HCC waiting room is available for clinic visitors starting at 6:30pm, NO EARLIER.

The Clinic is closed on federal holidays.  The Clinic is also closed on December 29, 2008 due to the holiday season.  The Clinic resumes on January 5, 2009.  If you have questions, please contact Rachel D. Jaffe.
